Mountain Yellow Legged Frog – Rana muscosa 

  • Status – Endangered
  • Estimated numbers – Approximately 2000
  • Population trend – Decreasing
  • Location – Southern Sierra Nevada of California and in the mountains of southern California
  • Why are they under threat – Due to non-native fish introductions, contaminant introductions, livestock grazing, acidification from atmospheric deposition, nitrate deposition, ultraviolet radiation, drought and disease.
  • What can you do – Join the leap frog conservation fund supported by Amphibians Survival Alliance and the IUCN (International Union of Conservation of Nature).
